Course Description

Learning the sounds of any second language can be difficult, particularly for adults. The reason is that our brains get trained in childhood to categorise language sounds in a certain way, according to the phonological rules of our first language(s).

This course will introduce you to how to teach English sounds. I’ll explain to you the four stages learners must go through, in order to learn the sounds of a new language: Perceive, Understand, Produce, Automate.

Before starting this course, we highly recommend you complete the course ‘Getting started with English Pronunciation’ and also that you become familiar with the English phonemic alphabet, as we will use phonemic symbols in this course.
